This restoration has been done during a PhD sponsored by Cantiere Alto Adriatico shipyard and organised by the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara. New techniques were used in order to minimise the impact on the original fabric and reducing the replacement of structures. The approach towards the restoration works was the conservation of as many structures as possible. The activity was a success since the boat regained the certificate after the re-measurement by a Dragon Class surveyor with the exact weight she had when the hull was fist launched. The Dragon Acanto was awarded as "Best restoration under 40 ft" by the Classic Boat magazine during the Classic Boat Awards 2014. The boat, after eighteen months of work, went back to the Maggiore lake where she sails regularly.
