RestORATION - Vindö 28
This Carl Andersson's sloop had leaks problem from the deck and superstructures and some seams were open between the hull planks. Therefore she needed the rebuilding of the deck (plywood and teak planks), splining of some seams between hull planks and the building of a self-draining cockpit. The 70% of deck's teak has been saved but all the plywood has been replaced due to excessive rot and delamination.
The boat still has her original hull structures (keel, frames and planking), bulwarks, cockpit seat sides, boom and mast. The original deck plan and interior layout has been preserved with only an exception for the cockpit, which was converted to a self draining type for safety reasons. Splining the seams gave back the initial structural integrity of the hull since it was glued with resorcinol glue. |
